Anyone familiar with the World GT Championship may be just as familiar with CQR Club - a lot of the series' admin team reside within the team, and indeed race in it too. For Season 7, there will be four CQR teams taking part, each fielding three cars with very strong line-ups. These teams also spread through the differing teams' championships too, so everyone is really looking to represent the team well, and fight as best they can for some silverware!
I'm delighted to have been placed within CQR with Pete Newman Media for Season 7, alongside (you guessed it!) Pete Newman for our second campaign running, and returnee to the championship after a...
The CQR drivers took to the Indianapolis road course last Thursday in the BSRTC series. The tricky circuit which had high top speeds coupled with tight and twisty hairpins offered up a great challenge to all.
After a few incidents and avoiding some of the chaos in race one, CQR emerged victorious with a 1-2-3 thanks to David Baker, Christian Rose and Jamie Rushworth.
Race 2, with the reverse grids in play, saw many of the CQR drivers start towards the rear of the field. However, a scintillating drive from Ash Sutton, with clinical overtaking, allowed him to climb up through the field and finish on the podium in 3rd place.
Heading into the Silverstone Race Weekend for Rounds 5 & 6 of the Mini Challenge UK, CQR’s own Ben Palmer couldn’t be sure what the weather was going to do, and what challenges he’d be presented with over the course of the weekend.
Saturday soon made intentions clear with a very wet day - downpours continuing throughout Qualifying. Ben would put the car 7th on grid in the tricky conditions, soon to be promoted to 5th place after two drivers ahead were excluded from the results.
Ben would get a strong start in Race 1, quickly taking advantage of a mistake by Jac Maybin at Copse, but contact with Nathan Harrison followed, putting the #27 car into...
After a close fight for the teams championship in season 2 of the World GT Championship (www.wgtc.uk) CQR are back again with another strong lineup for Season 3!
Discussions were soon underway at CQR's HQ after the season finale to put together an even stronger lineup of teams for the following season. With most drivers happy to sign up again it has mainly been a re-shuffle of drivers needed to ensure the best possible results based on attendance and other off-track commitments.
The teams are as follows:
CQR Club: Matt Bunn, Jake Blackhall and Pete Harrod
CQR S-Line: David White, Andy Schiel and Pete Newman
Back in 2015 Team Manager Ashley Sutton lined up the perfect team for the 2016 season. It was the team to beat for the 2016 season having the likes of David Baker, Jamie Rushworth, Michael Hall and Ashley Sutton. The guys worked fantastic all year round and they were always in the top three every week, when they wasn't at the top.
After wrapping up the 2016 Teams Championship it would have been fantastic to have the same line up for the 2017 season especially after Apex Racing revealing their line-up. Talks where had back at CQR's HQ with all the drivers involved and everyone was happy to sign again and stick around for another season, but wit...
